I've asked Scott to help me on the acquisition of a ski property in Bulgaria. He negotiated on my behalf and achieved what I considered to be a very good price. He then helped me with the many details of the acquisition from the major (like recommending a suitable lawyer) to the minor (like checking if there is a telephone connection in the property). I've always found Scott responsive, trustworthy and punctual and it is without hesitation that I recommend him.

We contacted Scott at SJI Overseas Properties to help us find a suitable property in a desirable ski resort.  Scott found us a fantastic penthouse apartment in the village of La Plagne 1800.  It is situated right by the ski lift, making it the ultimate ski-in ski-out property for us.  We viewed the apartment in July 2009, and completed before Christmas, so we were able to spend New Year in our new property!  Location was a key factor in our requirements and it couldn't be better, everything is right on our doorstep. The sale of the property was handled extremely smoothly, particularly for an overseas purchase, and we would highly recommend Scott if you are interested in buying a property abroad.

Scott was introduced to me by my IFA when I was considering the purchase of a French leaseback apartment in the Alps. The moment we first spoke on the phone, something clicked, I felt I was talking to someone who had his head screwed on and knew what he was talking about.
Scott liased with the French developer to arrange an out on season viewing and helped with travel arrangements.  As my French is extremely limited this took pressure off me and reduced the chance of misunderstanding.  Scott was very flexible on dates and was happy to meet up and fly out from Bristol which was convenient for me.

On arrival in Geneva Scott managed the car hire and undertook the majority of the driving, though I suspect he rather enjoyed the Seat Blade and clear roads!  On arrival at the ski resort Scott made contact with the developer’s rep and sorted out the viewing.  I particularly appreciated Scott’s honest appraisal without any spin and given at my request.  I felt very happy to discuss the situation and personal circumstances openly and felt confident that these conversations would remain between us.  Scott put no pressure to move on and we spent several hours getting the feel of the resort and it’s facilities.  I felt that I was able to investigate the aspects I was most interested in.

Although the location couldn’t be bettered I had some doubts about the actual apartment and it’s standard of finish.  The sixties style of the resort wasn’t entirely to my taste.  Scott suggested that we explore the area a little further and we investigated other neighbouring resorts and also a lesser known but fast developing resort being built in traditional French village style that he knew about.  Although well into the evening by now we managed to have a good look around and even access one of the buildings under construction.  I felt happier that this development better suited my tastes and has good growth potential.  I have subsequently seen a very positive write up on this resort in the FT. At all times I felt able to thoroughly discuss pros and cons and to get well thought out responses.

With a few amusing escapades trying to find an evening meal and beer, as it was by now very late and out of season, I felt that with Scott’s help it had been a very successful, long but worthwhile day.  The upshot of the trip was that I didn’t purchase the apartment initially under investigation but have now successfully purchased at the traditionally styled resort.  I understand that property prices are increasing very nicely at this resort and I look forward to some personal useage.

Subsequent to this inspection visit Scott has continued to assist with the purchase process and has been a great help with moving this ahead and dealing with my, probably at time, idiotic questions.  He was also able to negotiate better personal useage terms and helped to select the best apartment available within my price budget.  He has always responded promptly to my telephone calls and if he hasn’t immediately known the answer has either found out or told me the reasons why not.

I feel that Scott has enabled me to make the right choice based on my requirements and actually prevented me from making a purchase which although fine in financial terms, I think I would always have had niggles with.  The money spent on Scott’s fees have been worth every cent.  I can’t recommend him highly enough based on my experience and believe that he will treat all clients in the same way in advising you as it is, warts and all.  Scott keeps me on his mailing list so that I am aware of properties that he is investigating but there is no hard sell.
